Bridge work prompts rail schedule changes later this month

NEWARK, JUNE 17, 2008 -- Buses will briefly replace trains between Asbury Park and Belmar on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line late this month.

Because of maintenance on the Shark River drawbridge, trains will run on a special schedule between Long Branch and Bay Head beginning late on Fri., June 27 and continuing all day Saturday.

Buses will carry passengers between Asbury Park and Belmar during that time. Trains will still operate between Asbury Park and Bradley Beach, but Bradley Beach customers who are headed south must take the train north Asbury Park and then transfer to a bus which will take them to Belmar.

Trains headed north from Bay Head will be running up to 15 minutes sooner than usual so that connections can continue to be made at Long Branch. A revised schedule between Long Branch and Bay Head will be posted at on station posters and available at www.njtransit.com by June 21.
